You may have more than one idea and uncertain which to pursue as a business. It’s very important to add idea evaluation during this process. In this session we will cover:

  • Does your product or service serve an unmet need in a particular market?
  • How to identify and recognize unmet needs in the market?
  • What are the barriers to entry to turn a specific idea to business

Step 4: Operations – Running the Business Smoothly

Now that you have a solid idea and a marketing plan to go with it, you are ready for your first customers. It’s essential that business operations run smoothly. In this session we will discuss how to choose the right business structure depending on your unique situation and understanding the accounting and tax essentials for businesses. During this session, we will cover the following:

  • Determining the right business structure: sole proprietorship, partnership or incorporation
  • Accounting for business owners – proper record keeping
  • Tax:  how to use business expenses to offset  income and other tax planning strategies
  • Understanding HST filing
  • How to pay yourself from the business

Step 2: Market Research

You may already have a great idea or product in mind and you’re sure it will capture minds and hearts of people. You are ready to develop this product service and jump right in. Wait! You must first determine whether there really is a market for your product or service. How do you find out? Through market research.

If you neglect this step, you won't hear the positive and negative feedback from people and will be developing a product blindly. The feedback from your potential customers is vital to help you tweak the product to the exact way your future customers want. During this session, we will cover the following:

  • Determining how much demand is out there for your business offering – identifying who your potential customers are, what they are willing to paid and how often are they prepare to pay?
  • How to conduct market research and determining the best market research strategy for your business

Investment: $150 for 3 sessions with action steps and resources designed specifically to take your hobby, passion and skills to an operating business. Should you find you need more sessions and time to get the business started, Stacey will work with you on a month to month basis until the launch of your business.

Over the span of 3 intensive session, Stacey will work with you one-on-one from Step 1 through to Step 5 until your business is opened! Stacey will keep you accountable by assigning action steps after every meeting to ensure you are on track to open your business.

After working with many business owners, and starting her own financial planning firm, Stacey realized opening a business requires certain skills and a particular process to follow. Just like any skill, it can be learned and any process can be duplicated. Through these 3 sessions, Stacey will go through exercises and action steps that takes you from hobby and passion to business.

You now have to deal with fluctuating cash flows, and tax considerations.  Your savings/investing and retirement plan needs to change accordingly. In this session we will cover the following:

  • How to budget around fluctuating cash flows
  • How to minimize business and personal taxes
  • Creating an investment portfolio in synergy with the business
  • Retirement planning as a business owner
